Fridge Phonics Magnetic Letters by Leap Frog

12.19.05

This has been a great, fun learning tool for my son! It was a gift when he was 15 months old and he thoroughly enjoys it. Although he doesn’t yet grasp the enunciation of all the letters, it has given him a good start and he sings the tune of the alphabet song quite well. His only frustration with it was turning the letters to get them to fit for the first year we had it. That is no longer a problem. This is a gift that I am likely to buy for others since it has been so beneficial to us!

Hey folks,

There is some irony in the timing of Karen’s post on the Fridge Phonics/Letter Magnets. Today our son was playing with the thing and started saying his letters. I decided to test Junior. I put the letter “A” and two other letters together and asked him which was the letter “A”. The two year old picked up an “A” and put it into the machine. Ok, so I bunched up a few more letters and asked him to pick “B”. He found “B” with no problem. We made it all the way up to the letter “E” before he got bored with Dad and left the room (though “D” may not count since I accidently pointed to it).

Maybe this is normal for a two year old and if so, great I’ll take normal. Whatever the reason for him knowing his letters, this boy’s old man is one proud Daddy.
